The West Side of Cozumel
Okay, I’ll start by giving you a brief summary on the west side of Cozumel.
The west side of Cozumel is not an open ocean and it has more rocky beach entrances making it good for snorkeling. The beaches that are located on the west side of Cozumel are sheltered and are very popular due to their proximity to the cruise terminals.
On the west side, you are sure to find white sand and beaches to relax on and soak up the sun beaches in Cozumel like San Francisco Beach Club.
Another thing about the west side is that there is often current and the current varies in strength and direction. Currents can vary depending on the time of year. Currents are present on both sides of the island so going in group tours or on a guided snorkel tour is a great option for snorkeling in Cozumel. On the west side, you will definitely find crystal clear waters for snorkeling.

Obviously, this is not ideal for good snorkeling. Although the east side is not as good as the west side in terms of snorkeling, there are still good places to visit and amazing things to do on the east side of Cozumel.
Some amazing beaches can be located on this side of Cozumel, these beaches have nice views, huge rocks, clear waters and often very long stretches of white sand.

Unlike the western side of Cozumel the east side of Cozumel doesn´t have countless restaurants, bars and beach clubs. So, if you are looking to get away from the crowds then the east side might be just what you are looking for.

Are there only East and West sides on Cozumel? Nope, there’s the North and South side and they also have their attributes, some good and some bad.
